Deborah Steinkopf

Deborah (she/her) is an experienced nonprofit professional with 30+ years working for social change. I have helped nonprofits increase organizational effectiveness and mission impact, in both salaried and consulting capacities. I have worked with nonprofit start-ups, nonprofits with strong brand identities, and nonprofits in transition. I have also served on nonprofit boards, government advisory committees, and coalitions.

As a leader and a collaborative partner, I help build organizational capacity, scale programs, assemble effective staff teams, and secure public and private financing to support these efforts. I’m a natural strategist. In every organization I’ve worked, I’ve grown contributed revenue and government funds from all levels of government. Effective budgeting, cash management, and revenue generation practices have all contributed to my success as an organizational leader and I am eager to share these practices with other nonprofit leaders.

Since launching my consulting practice in 2016, I have worked with 48 nonprofits with diverse missions. I’m a frequent presenter and guest lecturer on government funding for PSU’s certificate in fundraising and have published articles on grant strategy in the Journal of the Grant Professionals Association. I have a Master’s in Social Work and a Master’s in Public Policy from SUNY Albany. You can learn more about my practice at https://www.steinkopfstrategies.com/.
